The Torres Foundation

Introduction

My name is Cresencio Torres.  I am President of the Torres Foundation, Inc.  Our group believes in the mission of the Foundation and encourages your support. With your help, we can impact the lives of deserving first generation Mexican-American students seeking their educational dreams.  Everyone deserves a chance be the best they can be in the world.  An education, we know, opens the door to that possibility.

The Story Unfolds

For the past twenty years, I have had the good fortune to know Fina, my housekeeper.  She is a single parent raising three great kids born in the U.S.- Daniel, Jorge, and Valeria.  Her dream has always been to give her children an education she never received growing up in Mexico.

Daniel recently graduated high school--the first in the family to do so.  He was a star athlete at El Capitan High School lettering in cross country track for three years.  He wanted to fulfill his mother's dream of attending college but had no financial support.  I decided to help him kick-start his future by funding his first semester at Cuyamaca Community College.  Before he started classes, some essentials were needed.  I provided him with a computer, his own bank account, and a California ID.  Now, he is doing great in school, running track, and excited about finishing his Associates Degree.  His dream now is to attend a four year college. Daniel's experience was instrumental in the creation of The Torres Foundation, Inc.

Your contributions will help us support these deserving young first generation Mexican-American students in their quest for higher education--a strong value in the Mexican-American family and community.

We recognize that education is the key to success.  Help us help these students achieve their educational goals.
